Wrapping up the Week

Another slow news day. I had a massive post to share, but it's taking longer to clean up than I expected, so I'm holding it until next week. Projects have me head deep in other things, so I'm cutting short to the weekend. Y'all enjoy yourselves in this last weekend of Spring and I'll see you on the other side. Here's some art goodness videos for you to dwell upon: … [Read more...]

How to Build a Magazine – The Project Outline

In case you missed the video from last week, I've decided to put my money where my mouth is and independently publish a magazine, documenting all the ins and outs of how you go about a project of that magnitude. If you're just now finding this post, I have since moved all my magazine oriented content over to my other blog, MagazineDesignShop.com. This post can be found in its entirety HERE. Pinterest Makes My Job Easy—Case In Point, Eric Kass

Who doesn't love Pinterest? I'm sure some, but I think it's pretty dang awesome as long as their infrastructure keeps up with the demand of the users, but that's another story for another time. In the meantime, take a gander at Eric Kass' portfolio, which I came across while hunting on Pinterest for new folks to share. His design portfolio is abundant and puts most to shame, including myself. More letterpress work on Fresh Rag … [Read more...]

I’m Throughly Impressed (pun intended) by One Canoe Two

Letterpress work is fascinating to me. I've never seen the whole process, so it's a bit of a mystery how they get the work to look so refined, but I'm almost reluctant to dig into it because I kind of enjoy the miracle of it all. I really enjoy the whimsical aspect of One Canoe Two's design work—It's unexpected yet still approachable for most. Their US State prints are my favorite, but have a look at some of their other pieces to see what catches your fancy. … [Read more...]

Little Trees is a Little Secretive, But That’s OK.

The Little Trees Studio site is a bit on the minimal side, but if you use the link to head over to their Etsy Shop, you'll see cool examples of their design variety; tastefully matching contemporary design aesthetic with some modern abstracts. The store only has a few items, but I've been assured Little Trees is ramping up for the Unique LA show. I'll be sure to report back on all the new awesome wares after the event. UPDATE - I was informed by Teresa of Little Trees that they do have a Facebook Page for most updates, so hit that up! … [Read more...]
