Serendipitous discovery is an interesting thing. More than once have I come across an artist online, one I’ve never seen prior, but suddenly I’m seeing them everywhere in a very short period of time. So is the case with Ramon Maiden. Just yesterday I saw his “Hands” series on Juxtapoz. I saw his name come up again on Twitter and now I find these prints on Etsy. It seems obvious powers beyond my scope are telling me I need to share the work, which I’m happy to spread the word.
Most of these prints are original created as inkings done on dated paper materials, whether it’s pinups, advertising or even some controversial propaganda pieces. There’s also some illustrations that might take people off guard, but my guess is they’re created in irony rather than to shock. Personally, I’m more awed by the illustration skill than the shocking imagery, but what do you think?
