Fresh Rag’s First Ever Fontly Friday

Starting today, Fresh Rag is going to feature some of my favorite fonts. So begat Fontly Friday. I probably could have gone with Typeface Tuesday, but since I already have Magazine Mondays, I didn’t want you all to think I’m doing this daily theme gig all throughout the week. Nope, this will be one post a week sharing some cool stuff I’ve found. Unless otherwise states, each of these fonts is from MyFont.com, which is one of my affiliate groups, but I use MyFonts for 90% of my font purchases and fully endorse what they have going on.

Without further stalling, our first Friday font…

HAVE A NICE DAY

10 Typefaces – Up to $155

Have a Nice Day font via MyFonts.com

With this package, you get three font sets, with three weights in each set, along with a dingbat font of doodles. Being fixed case, it’s not the most versatile font, and at $150 for the set, not the cheapest out there, but I dig Have a Nice Day because it gives that hand-drawn appearance to and uppercase set, which you don’t see a lot of, and since it has three different sets, you could mix and match them to make for even more random looking typography.

EFFRA

10 typefaces – $440

Effra - MyFonts.com

Effra, a typeface that tracks its roots back into the early 19th century, is an extremely versatile font. It works extremely well for a modern, sans-serif body copy typeface, but has 10 different weights to choose from including some that would work great as titling. Effra is a font you can hang a brand on, and I guarantee there’s some eager, young designer trying to push the idea of Effra to be used with one of his clients. Again, not cheap, but a font this diverse will definitely get it’s money’s worth of usage.

On that note, this concludes our first edition of Fontly Friday. We’ll have a few more gems for you next week.
