Etsy Party at Crafted

Recently, Etsy threw a nationwide Craft Party with the local event being held at CRAFTED. I was graciously invited by CRAFTED as a VIP to get some insight about the first 2 months since they opened, and I got some insider info about the future. Nothing is set in stone for them about this tidbit, but it’s possible they may be rearranging their space plans. What was originally going to be Phase 2 is potentially a large, open event space that could accomodate everything from private parties and pop-up shops to hosting whole art and craft events. The details are still being nailed down, but I got look at the space and it’s definitely large enough to house events like Unique & Renegade. These are soft plans, though. I’ve asked for firmer details as soon as they get them nailed down.

The Etsy party was a hit, with thousands of people pouring through the doors in the evening hours. While talking with a few of the vendors, Fridays tend to be a bit slower, so this much activity was a welcome change. There were crafting events going on all over the venue, stirring up all kinds of make-it-and-take-it goodies. With my hands full of cameras, drinks and swag, I didn’t partake, but it looked like people were really enjoying the event. One of the highlights for me was funk/soul band, Slippers—pretty funky for a bunch of white dudes from Long Beach. I just wish they had a stronger presence online; nothing to speak of actually.

All in all, a great event. Thanks to CRAFTED for hosting and to all the vendors for the nice swag, which I will be divvying up as giveaways in the near future. If you want to be a part of that, you best sign up for the Fresh Rag News, because only newsies get the goods.
