As one of my Renegade run-ins, I came across a the PT/WW booth and was confronted with, of all things awesome, MAPS! You know me and cartography, so I had to have me a look. Based out of Philadelphia, PT/WW prides themselves on the handmade nature of their hand screened prints. They also use sustainable materials whenever possible and donate regularly to several local charities and non-profits. Short story, I feel desperately inferior and need to step up my karma game. Maybe by sending out this post, it helps PT/WW do what they do, and by osmosis, I've done a little more good than usual. It's a start. Go see their stuff and buy things! … [Read more...]
I'm not always fond of when an artist takes a central theme and uses that as the basis for their entire body of work with no deviation. It's obvious he's working off some sort of template, but as you can see, nothing looks mass produced. … [Read more...]
Meant to share these yesterday, but got sidetracked. Fab has some cool neighborhood map renderings by Jen Adrion and Omar Noory of These Are Thing starting yesterday. The smaller ones are selling out, but you can get your hands on the big ones for a pretty decent price considering they retail for much higher. The images on Fab show the posters in black frames, but I couldn't see anything on the page that said the frames were included. There's only a small handling fee, so I assume it's just the print you're buying, but maybe you'll be surprised. Either way, the work is cool and would compliment any room it it's neutral, yet colorful tones. More neighborhoods beyond these four available on the site. Because I missed them yesterday, these will only be available for about another day, so get on it. … [Read more...]
I normally don't post on Sundays, but because of the timeliness of this post, I figured I'd break my own rules for you folks. You know me, I dig my maps. Mix that with a little alma mater spirit, and it's a recipe for sales. City Prints Map Art is being featured on Fab.com with a myriad of art pieces showcasing dozens of different college towns. If yours is on the list, get on it while it's hot. This deal is done in a few days. You'll still be able to buy directly from City Prints off their website, but for a bit more than this Fab deal. Don't miss out. … [Read more...]
